Friday Round Up

Well, we are officially post-Thanksgiving! Can you believe it? This year has been going by so fast. Have you figured out your Christmas gifts for this year yet? I've started making a list, but there are still some blank spaces on it.We may venture our to Black Friday for a little bit today - wish me luck! I am not a huge fan of crowds when shopping so it's always a bit of a hassle. Anyway, on to this week's links!

Writing can be difficult when you have a full time job. You go to work, you come home, and you'd much rather just veg out than try to work more. The weekends are short and there's all this other life stuff to get done, it really becomes about finding the time and mental head space. But there are some good habits to develop to make sure you are getting your crap done. This article talks about some of the habits of highly productive writers, and I have to say I agree with most of them. Though I don't always work on more than one project at once, I do know what I'm good at when it comes to writing, and I pretty much always finish what I start.

As you may have realized by now, I'm a bit of an introvert. You know, if that personality test from a few weeks ago didn't confirm what I already knew. Anyway, I've seen quite a few different articles around about certain things that only introverts understand, but I have to say that this one is the best one I've seen yet. My favorite two points include those about how weekdays are me days. Totally true. The last thing I want to do on a weekday is go out for drinks and be more social. I also am not a huge phone person unless you are one of a few select people. Texting? Totally fine. You wouldn't think it would be a huge difference, but it is.

I've talked before about some Netflix movies that you may not have heard of that are highly rated, but here is another great list of tricks regarding Netflix. They are always rotating out different movies (moreso than they do TV shows, it seems), so they have some places where you can see what's coming and going. And what about better recommendations? Honestly, it really does need to have a place where it just tells me what I would rate highly rather than going just by their fancy sub-categories, because that aforementioned list had a ton of movies I would rate highly, yet I'd never seen them on there before.

As you know, I do have a certain love for YA books. I've talked a bit about some of my favorite, more recent books, the past couple years, but this list focuses on some from childhood that we may have forgotten about. I admit, I have not read most of the books on the list, but some of them still sound pretty fun. Some I have read, though: Where the Red Fern Grows, Maniac Magee, A Wrinkle in Time, and Caddie Woodlawn. It definitely brings the nostalgia!

That's it for this week! Happy shopping, or not shopping!
